"Lots and lots of water and lots and lots of wet," she said. "We were just worried."
"It was just rain all day long," said Jim Kelly, owner of Lost River Campground. "It wasn't that heavy, and then in the middle of the night, it just intensified."
Fire Chief Ronald Beard said his department responded to emergency calls all day.
One section of Route 112 was down to one lane because of damage from the rushing water. Transportation officials said they hoped to have one lane open in each direction soon. Repairs are expected to take several days.

LIVE THE LINCOLN WHERE SHE SPOKE TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY THE HIGH WATER. WE SPOKE TO ONE FAMILY IN PARTICULAR, THEY WOKE UP TO THREE FEET OF RAIN IN THEIR BACK YARD AND WHAT THEY FOUND IN THEIR BASEMENT WAS EVEN WORSE. A LOCAL RESIDENT REACHING OUT TO A FAMILY IN NEED THURSDAY. IT WAS HEART WRENCHING TO HEAR THAT THEY LOST EVERYTHING. THE BASEMENT OF THIS HOME IS FLOODED FROM THE RAIN OVERNIGHT. "There is a lot more home damage," he said. "Propane bottles uplifted and toppled over. It's a force of nature."
Campers at the Lost River Campground said they never felt like they were in real danger, but they said it was unnerving to be forced to leave their campsites in the early morning hours.
"Oh my God. Our tent is going to float away," she said. "But we just got it."
Heavy rain washes away roads

"When I started hearing rumbling, with the rocks tumbling in the river," he said. "I got out in the parking lot, and it was about knee deep."
In Lincoln, fire officials said they hadn't seen that much rain since Hurricane Irene hit more than three years ago.
"I saw a whole big tree with big roots, and the whole base of it was just flying down the river," she said.
Then, as she gathered her children, she had another thought.
Several campsites were washed away, but no one was injured.

By that time, the water was already over the bridge that connects to the campsite, trapping the campers who had to scramble to higher ground. Two firefighters roped over to make sure that everyone was OK, and it was then just a matter of waiting for the water to recede.
"We had about five to six feet of water in his basement," Kelley said.
The basement of a house on Mansion Hill Drive was flooded after the storm. The homeowner's brother, Jason Kelley, spent the morning helping his brother clean up.
In other sections of town Thursday, the cleanup was underway. Dotti and Bob Stahler needed to have their basement pumped out. Dotti Stahler said the force of the water was incredible.
