"I've got enough problems back here, trying to take care of issues in the federal government so I am not going to intertwine myself with issues in Nevada as it relates to state government," Reid said.
The city entertainment and casino culture draws people from all over the world, Scher noted, including the mentally ill.
"To be honest with you, I have not (considered who will run)," Reid said. "I guess I should, but I haven't."
Sandoval's many supporters could say that Hudson was being too dramatic. Womens White Leather Converse High Tops They can rightfully say the practice was in place before Sandoval was elected.
"But I think it is unfortunate that people would be given a bus ticket and not given the proper care they need before they leave not before they leave but before they are sent out of the state."
HERE IS A FASCINATING EXCERPT from one of the Bee's stories written by Cynthia Hubert, Phillip Reese and Jim Sanders. It deals with Las Vegas being a magnate for mentally ill:

Reid cited other health problems where Nevada seems kinder to visitors.
"Since Gov. (Mike) O'Callaghan has been governor (1971 79), there have been cutbacks on mental health services in Nevada, which is unfortunate," Reid said. "They have had a lot of cuts and that has been too bad."

Yet for Democrats, Sandoval is too late to react. The initial story of a patient dumped in Sacramento was published on March 1 and the most shocking on April 14.
"The fact that it took weeks of devastating coverage in the media to force Gov. Sandoval to make this policy change shows just how morally bankrupt this administration is," said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson. "Hundreds of mental health patients were bused out of state unsupervised under Brian Sandoval's watch, and it takes the media calling him out to change this policy?"

When it was suggested that lack of funding was the root of the problem, Reid said Nevada has been cutting back on mental health for decades.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D Searchlight, gave his opinion on the recent "patient dumping" scandal in Nevada, even though first reluctant to do so.
the whole country no doubt knows, Vegas is a pretty unique place, said Dr. Lorin Scher, an emergency room psychiatrist Converse White Sneakers For Women
"I was talking on the floor today and it is going to get worse," Reid said. "The Republicans are happy where we are. They have one goal in mind and that is to cut spending. Nothing else matters."
He said Rawson Neal has been under siege for years because of state budget cuts, a steady increase in poor people needing mental health services in the Las Vegas area and a revolving door of administrators.
bipolar patients impulsively fly across the country to Vegas during their manic phases and go on gambling binges, he said. probably attracts more wandering schizophrenic people who are attracted to the warm weather, lights and action, he added.
REID DOESN'T EVEN KNOW who the Democrats will run against Sandoval. Possible candidates, from the political hot stove league, include Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak.
As many Nevadans know, the Sacramento Bee has published a series of stories detailing the state's "patient dumping."
Harry Reid critical of
Nevada's issues about funding mental health facilities begin in Congress, Reid said.
But after Sandoval's flawless run since elected in 2010, Democrats finally have an issue they can exploit come election season, even if they don't yet know who their gubernatorial candidate will be.
we just put them on a bus and send them from wherever they came from? I don't think so."
"Nevada's primary mental health facility, Rawson Neal in Las Vegas, bused roughly 1,500 patients out of southern Nevada from July 2008 through early March 2013, according to a Bee review of Greyhound bus receipts purchased by Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services."
am by no means defending their (Nevada health officials) practices, he said. certainly gives cause for concern. But it one possible explanation. Ghertner, former director of Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services, cited other possible reasons.
"Of course, it spins down," Reid said. "When we cut back things here, it makes it difficult for the state Legislature, Gov. Sandoval to do their job because we are cutting back here."
Reid doesn't see mental health spending getting any better in Congress.
SANDOVAL has been pro active on the issue this past week. Nevada's health department announced it is ending the practice of sending patients discharged from state psychiatric hospitals alone on bus trips out of Nevada. Early in the month, Sandoval announced $25 million more in his proposed budget for mental health services.
Reid said he has read the reports. He was critical of the practice but didn't want to get involved in what is the territory of Gov. Brian Sandoval and other state officials.
